Seetelhotel Ostseeresidenz Heringsdorf

Sleeping on the shores of the Baltic Sea in a little town called Heringsdorf on the island Usedom.

Hotel Name: Seetelhotel Ostseeresidenz Heringsdorf
AddressSeestraße 41, 17424 Heringsdorf, Germany

Note:  This is an independent hotel review based on my personal experience.

Located in the Baltic Sea is an island which is half Polish, half German.  Sunny Usedom Island in the province of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania boasts long stretches of sand beaches, untouched nature, spa hotels and resort architecture.  Accomodations are abundant and the question is always, where to stay? While there, we (4 adults) stayed at the Seetelhotel Ostseeresidenz Heringsdorf.

A short 3 minute walk to the beach, this apartment hotel seemed like a good choice.  The Apartment we chose was advertised as four person occupancy, “Featuring a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, separate bedroom and a balcony or terrace.”

It should not be sold for four adults!

Check In / The Service: Check in was in the Seetel Hotel Pommerscher Hof;  the reception was friendly and efficient.  She gave us a map, explained how to get to our building and gave parking, restaurant and beach info.

We quickly found the parking lot, grabbed our overnight bags and headed to our apartment.  Room key card swipe allowed us entrance to the building, where we then took an elevator to our 3rd floor accommodation.

We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door. The decoration, like the building was old fashioned resort charming, almost colonial.  A hall with coat hooks led forward to the living area, a bathroom was to the right.  The bathroom had a sink, toilet, towel heater and oodles of big fluffy towels.  A single jacuzzi tub which doubled as a shower was slightly dated and although it was a nice touch, it was very high to climb into and lacked bars for assistance.

The modern kitchen was completely outfitted with all amenities – refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, dishes, pots and pans, etc.  Dish cloths and dishwasher soap tabs were also supplied.

The living / dining room had a sleep sofa, chairs, tv, coffee table, lamp, and dining room table with four chairs.  A window wall led out onto the spacious balcony with a lovely view of the town.

The sleep sofa was horrible.  It was dirty and worn and came with no directions.  Finally, between the four of us we managed to get it into the shape of a bed, but had to enter and exit cautiously or it would fall apart.  It was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on.  It should not be sold for four adults!

The bedroom was very nice.  A bed, night tables, wardrobe and large window.  Although the bed wasn’t overly comfortable, the bedding was amazing!  Big white fluffy pillows and gorgeous warm duvets to snuggle into were a definite plus.

The free Wifi, included in the price was terrible and for the most part, non-functioning.

The Spa:  Unfortunately, our short visit did not permit sufficient time to get to the spa, so I do not have a picture or opinion.
Their website displays the following prices:
– Day Pass: €18.00 per person
– 3 Hours: €9.00
– After 6 PM: €9.00

The Cost:  1 night, 4 persons €86 / USD$106 – Off season (officially called a 2-Room Apartment for 2-4 Adults)
Plus:

– €1.30 Spa tax per person per night (obligatory)
– €12 for parking (per day)

Other info:
Check-in: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Check-out: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Breakfast: Available for € 12 per person, per night in the Seetel Hotel Pommerscher Hof
Dinner: Available for €24 per person, per night in the Seetel Hotel Pommerscher Hof

Would I recommend it?  Wear and tear was evident throughout the still charming apartment – cracks in the walls, old furniture, dated decorations.  However, the price was a super deal, location was fantastic and the flat was a comfortable size.  Yes, at the price we paid, I think it is more than worth it!  However, it is only appropriate for 2 people.
