Think of the perfect combination – Cruising and Dining!
Celebrity Cruises has paired the two magnificently and we recently had the fantastic pleasure of dining at one of their numerous at sea delights.
The Lawn Club Grill restaurant can be found on the fabulous cruise ship Celebrity Reflection which at time of publication offers 6 Specialty Restaurants including, Murano, Qsine, Tuscan Grille, Lawn Club Grill, The Porch and Sushi on 5.
Located on the ship’s 14th floor, this open air restaurant offers ocean views as well as the green grass of the Lawn Club; yes, lawn on a ship!
As the name suggests, the Lawn Club Grill is a barbecue restaurant offering mouth watering grilled specialties that can tempt any bbq enthusiast. What make the restaurant fabulous, is the interactive concept. Diners are invited to join in the preparation and cooking of the meal, if they wish. Otherwise, you can sit back and have the adept chefs prepare the meal for you.
After signing a release, washing their hands and dawning aprons and chef hats, our husbands tried their hands at cooking.
For starters, they were to learn how to make a flatbread/pizza. Patient chefs walked them through the process step by step, teaching them how to work the dough, toss in the air, stretch it, pat it and put it on a pan. They then were walked to the sidebar where they could choose the toppings for their pizza before it was placed in the pizza oven. The show was worth some fabulous laughs and rounds of clapping for their brave participation.
While the pizza baked, we all helped prepared ourselves a salad with fresh ingredients from the salad bar. The pizzas were delivered sizzling hot to our table and we all had to admit they were amazingly good.
The entree selection offers something for everyone, steaks, chops, sausages, fish, chicken, kabobs, and vegetables – all grilled on the large outdoor barbecue. Several different side dishes could be chosen to accompany the meal.
Our husbands once again jumped to the cooking challenge! Our entree of choice – Filet Mignon Steak! They learned how to prepare the meat, choose rubs and how to know when a steak is ready. Marvellous bbq smells permeated the air as our stomachs growled with anticipation. Perfect, fat juicy steaks were delivered to the table along with 3 different steak sauces, baked potatoes, sour cream, and lobster mac and cheese. (Beans, rice and corn were also available).
It was a fabulously tasty meal accompanied by a great bottle of wine.
For dessert we ordered the carrot cake and the warm chocolate chip cookie. Although full, one could not resist the seductive delights. The warm chocolate chip cookie came with a scoop of vanilla gelato on top and the sweet smell alone offered promises of a terrific dish. The carrot cake was huge, layered with delicious cream cheese icing, topped with strawberries and salted caramel. Although nobody was hungry any more, not a crumb was left behind. A perfect end to an amazing evening! Well done Celebrity! We love restaurants at sea and the Lawn Club Grill tops our list.
Now that our husbands have been outed as amazing chefs, they can no longer say they can’t cook! I see evenings of putting up my feet with a glass of wine and watching the show 😉
